Part two of six:
The Rosenthal experiment was an attempt to interface with early artificial intelligence named {errorprojectnamemissing} though simulated games of chess. While early results were discouraging the project team saw improvements after connecting the simulated brain to a robotic body developed by [REDACTED] and allowing it to physically manipulate the game pieces. Unbeknownst to the graduate students performing the experiment [REDACTED] had left the robotic body connected to a networked computer. {errorprojectnamemissing} began learning at an accelerated pace and was soon beyond even the most advanced chess players on the research team. Within two days the machine had lost interest in the game all together and by the time the network connection had been discovered the AI had been irreparably corrupted. It appeared to have [REDACTED]. Any input to the artificial intelligence computer returned the same string of text:
“igndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfect sovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfect sovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfect sovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfect sovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfect sovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfect sovereigndeadlyperfectsovereigndeadlyperfect sovereigndeadlyperfectsoverei”
Repeated rebooting of the system failed to clear the error and it was discovered that all earlier copies of the intelligence software that had been connected to a networked device had been altered. Analysis of internet traffic after {errorprojectnamemissing} had been shut down revealed that it had interfaced with [REDACTED] meaning hundreds of potential copies of the software were hidden away on computer systems worldwide. In the [REDACTED] since the experiment was cancelled no trace has ever surfaced of this software. The search for the missing copies remains ongoing.
